Tasty tips for exporting at food and drink networking event ...

?

Some of Cornwall?s top food and drink producers gathered last week to hear about the challenges of finding new export markets.

The event was organised by local legal firm Stephens Scown LLP in partnership with Cornwall Food & Drink and took place at St Austell Brewery on 19 November. Roger Ryman, Brewing Director at St Austell Brewery discussed the challenges of finding new export markets and the Brewery?s ?2.5 million plans to double output.

The event was attended by representatives from some of the top food and drink producers in the county including Camel Valley Wines, Cornish Sea Salt, Trewithen Dairy, Kernow Sausage Co and WC Rowe.

Stephens Scown LLP is one of the only legal firms in the region to have a dedicated food and drink team ? an expert team of solicitors whose legal knowledge is matched by their understanding and passion for the food and drink sector. The firm regularly organises events in the county with Cornwall Food & Drink, giving food and drink producers an opportunity to network and share best practice.

Stephens Scown?s head of food and drink, Simon Gawler said: ?St Austell Brewery is an example of a local business doing phenomenally well and expanding into new export markets. We were delighted that Roger could share his experience with us, giving all of our guests inspiration for their own businesses. Food and drink is a crucial sector for Cornwall and we are happy to play a small part in giving producers a chance to network and share best practice.?

Jeremy Mitchell, Director of Marketing and Communications at St Austell Brewery said: ?Cornwall is a leading light in food and drink production and we were honoured to welcome so many of the County?s top producers to the Brewery. By sharing experiences and working together we can help to ensure the future growth of this vital sector for Cornwall?s economy.?

Ruth Huxley, Director of Cornwall Food & Drink, confirmed the value of this type of event: ?Businesses love to learn from other businesses and in Cornwall we are fortunate that so many of our great food and drink producers are more than happy to share their knowledge with each other. At Cornwall Food & Drink we are always keen to help our members access new markets and there is enormous potential in exports at the moment so it was timely to hold an event around this subject.?
