A???? The Still Angry Youth!?

After my article on The Writer?s Block few weeks back ? I witnessed this incident which propelled me to remove the fear of writing ? and writing once again!?

I had bought a new washing machine ? and it was being brought to my villa in Qurum Heights. As I was directing the 3 ton truck to reverse into my villa ? this young Omani Driver was reversing very fast ? and he nearly ran into me and my villa gate. He came with two Indian Handymen Helpers.?

I started to rebuke him as to why he was driving this fast ? and as if this was a saloon car? He curtly replied to me that he did not see me clearly. Then he started speaking in Hindi to the two Assistants ? saying that these rich people ? even our own ? are ridiculing us like this ? because I am a poor Driver.

I am not a fluent Hindi speaker ? but I hear the lingo. So I told him in Arabic ? please be grateful to Allah you have a job still ? because if I were still in the Offices ? you will be given a Final Warning Letter the way you are driving!?

This seemed to shake him quite a lot ? and make him come to his senses! Especially after I had told him that with his Secondary Education ? he should be thankful to Allah God that he has the job ? and with many youngsters ? even with College Diplomas ? still looking for jobs!?

B???? The Officials?

In my article last week also ? I had written on the Offices scenarios???In my article last week I had written on the Offices scenarios ?- What shocked me the most is these elements of wanting to control, dominate and subjugate in the old days methodologies ? and in the old guards doctrines ? from the higher levels ? even to a fellow educated, qualified and experienced fellow peer Omani!

But allowing flexibility and freedom to the expatriate clans ? and not your own! Like I always like to say ? Like that General shooting at one?s own troops ? metaphorically speaking here!

Truthfully and honestly speaking ? many of my articles I have been writing in these columns and in my books are mainly Offices based ? that is in the Private Sector! There are few instances for me to go to the Public Sector offices ? and there are some places that I still try my level best to still avoid ? unless I really need the service ? and my presence is required.

From what I have seen so far ? nothing much has really changed ? if I remember my own articles on the few ones that I did write this sector about before. Despite all the changes around us now! Because we are still not hearing people speaking to us ? and or seeing the things they are saying to us ? and not even allowing them to talk to us now!? That is still the sad and tragic part!

What makes it all worse is now we have all the new methods of communicating ? like websites, Internets and Hotlines ? restructuring and reorganising ? but nothing else has changed much. You still find the envious and the jealous ones ? the old guards ? angry at all others ? and their usual mentalities, focuses and attitudes that have remained mostly just the same.

It is not looking down at anyone ? but the clerk there or similar is still the most powerful element that you will ever meet in your life ? and who can turn your life into hell ? and even lose your rights to move and be mobile ? and your infringement on human rights ? and your own personal freedom even!

The more sad and tragic part is that there is simply nothing that you can do about it. The more twirl and complain you do ? the worse your situation will get. That is till a stage will be reached when you are just need to bear it ? take it in ? and just like one is under torture.

Or people to just go silent with the silent majority. And to be like that cinder fire that is burning intensely and heatedly underneath ? and it will take just a small spark to explode it all ? and as we had seen alive and still going ? of starting with only the elements of the students graffiti.

Actually, those Central Points ? and other Departments ? that are supposed to deal with the citizens? frustrations, grievances and complaints need to do their jobs properly, professionally, and ethically ? instead of the usual ??no-hear? ? and or pass the buck to others!

When a few of these culprit officials start losing their jobs ? or positions and privileges ? the rest will follow in suit. Otherwise there will be no change ? and drag the rest of us all into decadence, malaise and disasters!

People are restless, unhappy and still suffering -? within quietly!

Not to sound melodramatic ? this is going to be my last article on this particular topic. After this ? I will only write on lesser topics only!

NEW YORK (AP) ? "I'm really digging it," says Ronnie Underwood, a buff, tattooed motorcycle enthusiast, auto racer and former football player who also happens to be a ballet dancer.

Oh, and a reality show star. Underwood, 30, is one of the main characters on "Breaking Pointe," the CW series about the lives and loves, trials and tribulations of the dancers at Ballet West, a highly regarded company in Salt Lake City.

The season comes to a finale next week, and suspense is high: Will Ronnie, Rex, Christiana and Allison be ready for their close-up? Or will opening-night jitters, not to mention relationship issues, derail their hard work? But we digress. What Underwood is "digging" is the broader fact that ballet, often relegated to a dusty, forgotten shelf in the general culture, seems to be having its moment in the sun.

Besides "Breaking Pointe," there's the ABC Family show "Bunheads," starring the Tony-winning actress Sutton Foster (the title is dance-speak for ballerinas, a reference to their neatly coiled hairdos.) And hugely popular dance-competition shows like "Dancing with the Stars" have featured guest turns by ballet dancers like Jose Manuel Carreno, recently retired from American Ballet Theatre, and the ballerina Tiler Peck of New York City Ballet.

There's also a popular documentary film garnering praise, "First Position," which tracks young dancers in a global competition. But it's a much more famous 2010 film that gets much of the credit for starting the ballet mini-craze: Darren Aronofsky's cool and edgy "Black Swan," which starred Natalie Portman and brought a whole new vibe to that stuffy classic, "Swan Lake."

"'Black Swan' really did bring ballet into the mainstream pop culture consciousness in a way it hadn't been for a while ? and that was great for us in the ballet world," says Rob Daniels, managing director at New York City Ballet.

Daniels says the company sold out its runs of "Swan Lake" for two seasons after the film opened. "And it definitely felt the houses were younger ? that young people were coming who'd seen the film and were curious about ballet," Daniels says.

Not that there was any lasting economic boon for NYCB or other ballet companies ? like arts institutions, dance companies have had to struggle in a harsh economy.

But those in the dance world say, give it time ? they're simply buoyed by the thought that more people may come to know and appreciate the art of ballet. One of those people is Adam Sklute, a former Joffrey Ballet dancer and now artistic director of Ballet West ? the company in "Breaking Pointe."

Sklute notes that ballet had a heyday in the '60s to early '80s. Those were the years of big personalities like Rudolf Nureyev, Margot Fonteyn, and Mikhail Baryshnikov. "But then it calmed down for a few decades," he says. Now, "Black Swan" and the big dancing shows are giving it a new profile.

"My motivation was plain and simple ? I wanted people to understand our world," says Sklute. "Because when people start to explore the ballet world, they become fascinated. I wanted to depict it as it really is."

What that meant was shattering some of the stereotypes. One is that dancers are fragile creatures, like pretty ceramic dolls. What "Breaking Pointe" does very effectively is show that in reality, ballet demands an amazing combination of athleticism, physical strength, endurance and sheer grunt work. "People don't realize how down and dirty the work really is," says Sklute.

Showing how hard dancers work was a main mission for executive producer Izzie Pick Ashcroft. "Ballet dancers have a level of discipline that most of us could only dream of," says Ashcroft, of BBC Worldwide Productions. "And their fitness level is really quite shocking." Cameras tracked the dancers for six weeks, showing them training and rehearsing day and night, sometimes caked in sweat or breathless with exhaustion.

This being a reality show, however, plenty of time is spent on inter-company romances, especially the tortured are-we-or-aren't-we duo of Rex and Allison, whose troubles threaten to spill over into rehearsals, to the great concern of Christiana, the top ballerina, who's also married to a Ballet West principal dancer (the show accurately displays how insular ballet companies are.)

And though, unsually, 99 percent of the company's dancers are straight, according to Ashcroft, there's some equal time given to the one openly gay male dancer, whose ballerina friends take him to a gay bar to find a date.

Another theme that is highlighted and played to the hilt, "The Bachelor"-style: the competition among the contestants, er, dancers. It's all about moving up the totem pole: Corps dancers want to be soloists, soloists want to be principals, principals want to protect their turf and compete with each other for choice roles.

This is no "Black Swan" ? the struggle for roles is not, at least yet, literally bloody ? but still, the focus on dancers competing, a sure way to make dance-focused entertainment exciting, is a little troubling to some.

"What's ignored is the drudgery of the work," says New York dance writer Marina Harss. "They have to sex it up. It's the same with 'Black Swan.' It's like every moment of the day is consumed with backstabbing. When I've been in studios, it's the opposite of that. It's work. It's not about perfection. It's, 'Let's fix this.'"

Still, Harss says, it's easy to see why ballet dancers would become an object of interest in a culture that values youth and physical beauty (not to mention buff, hard bodies): "Dancers are the embodiment of what this culture values: Youth, beauty, charisma," she says. "I'm surprised this didn't happen sooner."

One former dancer is very pleased about the new spotlight on ballet: Meg Howrey, a former Joffrey dancer, wrote a novel about two professional ballet-dancing sisters that came out last month. She says she's hoping that "ballet dancers are the new vampires."

But Howrey does worry that the emphasis on competition, seen especially in the dance competition shows and also in "First Position," is teaching youngsters the wrong thing about the art form. "Are we teaching people what dance is about, or merely that 10 pirouettes is better than two?" Howrey asks.

In any case, Underwood, the ambitious soloist on "Breaking Pointe," is taking all the new attention in stride. For now, he's on a mission to become a principal. "I deserve it," he says with typical brio. "I'm gonna outwork any dude out there."

Even more, he seems to be on a one-man crusade to show the world how macho a ballet dancer can be. He still plays football and races cars. In one scene, he goes to get his tattoo touched up. "I don't think I've ever done a tattoo on a ballet dancer," says the bemused tattoo artist.

Will Ronnie make it to principal? Will Rex and Allison figure it out? Will there be a second season?

No decision on that last one yet. But whatever happens, artistic director Sklute feels the show is "groundbreaking."

"We're presenting high art here," he says, putting his finger on what separates "Breaking Pointe" from most ? or rather all? other reality shows. "Balanchine. Petipa. Maybe this will get people into the theaters."

As for Ronnie, it's even simpler: "We're sharing the passion," he says. "Any publicity is good publicity."

DREAM TEAM BOYS GOLF COACH OF THE YEAR: Wilson's Jeff Evans

Bruins took the top seven places at the Moore League finals during a truly dominant season.

The boys golf team from Wilson High could not have been much more dominant in 2012.

The Bruins went 10-0 in the Moore League. They won the Glendora Invitational, finished second at the Servite Invitational and Champions Invitational and were third at the Knabe Cup.

In postseason play, Wilson won the CIF-SS Southern Team Divisional, was second at the CIF Team Final and was the only area team to qualify for the SCGA Southern State Regional, where the Bruins tied for seventh.

Those accomplishments alone would have been enough for Wilson's Jeff Evans to be selected as the Press-Telegram Dream Team Coach of the Year.

But it was at the 72-hole Moore League Individual Finals where Wilson's dominance was most obvious, and where Evans secured the honor. In unprecedented fashion, Wilson golfers claimed the first seven places and swept the automatic CIF individual berths that are awarded to the top six finishers.

Senior Andrew Morgan claimed the title at 12-under-par 276 - the second-best score in tournament history - and was followed by teammates Harold Calubid, Chase Nicolai, Nick Gregor, Austin Orkin, Ryder Epson and Jack Hayes.

"This was our best season since I've been here at Wilson," said Evans, in his seventh season at Wilson's helm. He scheduled nonleague matches and invitationals against some of Southern California's toughest competition on difficult courses to prepare his team for the postseason grind.

"They

rose to the occasion every time this year."

Morgan was clearly Wilson's top player, but any one of the six in the lineup could post a low score. Calubid finished second at the Moore League finals and shot 73 at the CIF Individual Finals to finish tied for 12th and qualify individually for the SCGA Southern State Regional. Nicolai added top-five finishes at the CIF Team Divisional and Team Final.

"It took everyone being willing to step up and perform, one through six," Evans said. "It can't be just two guys.

"I knew anybody could go under par in any round," Evans continued. "We had a strong group this year that could do that."

Morgan and Nicolai - who will attend UC Berkeley and Loyola Marymount, respectively, next year on golf scholarships - were the only seniors on the team, and Calubid and his younger teammates now have a wealth of experience.

"I feel like they all have a good game," Morgan said. "Each one stepped up at a different time during the year. It was good to see that."

Wilson showed its potential early in the season with strong finishes against top Orange County programs. A third-place finish at the annual Knabe Cup only added confidence, and the Bruins entered postseason play with plenty of momentum. They won the CIF Southern Team Divisional by five shots and were second at the CIF Team Final out of 21 teams to only Santa Margarita, which finished the season fifth at the state final.

"I knew we were good," Evans said. "It was just a matter of, could they rise to the occasion at the right time, and this group continued to do that."

Morgan, a four-year varsity player, feels as if he's gotten a head start on his golf future by playing for Evans.

"It's been really great," he said. "I can't think of any other coach I'd want to play for. He's like a college coach."

Wade needs knee surgery, out of London Olympics

MIAMI (AP) ? Dwyane Wade needs surgery on his ailing left knee and will not play in next month's London Olympics.

The Miami Heat guard called USA Basketball chairman Jerry Colangelo and Olympic coach Mike Krzyzewski on Thursday to break the news, which was not totally unexpected after Wade played through pain in the postseason. He appeared in all 23 Heat playoff games despite the knee problems, averaging 22.6 points during Miami's five-game win over Oklahoma City in the NBA Finals.

"I've decided to listen to my doctors and get the procedure I need on my knee," Wade told The Associated Press on Thursday. "USA Basketball said I had to do what was best for me. They want me to be obviously as healthy as possible so I can continue to play this game at a high level. They were very supportive and told me if I ever want to come around the team, I'm welcome and that I'm part of the family."

Wade and his doctors are in the process of scheduling the surgery. Wade has been told it will be basically a "cleanup" procedure and should have him on crutches for only about a day afterward.

If all goes according to plan, Wade will be ready for the start of training camp with the Heat this fall.

"That's the way we laid it out," Wade said. "Hopefully nothing changes. ... I don't think it's going to limit me too much."

Wade's departure leaves 17 players in the mix for 12 spots on the U.S. Olympic team. That group convenes in Las Vegas next week to start training camp, then has five exhibitions with international teams before opening Olympic play against France on July 29.

Wade was the leading scorer for the U.S. team on its way to gold at the Beijing Games four years ago, and he hoped to be part of defending that title in London. But after meeting with doctors, Wade realized surgery was inevitable and delaying it until after the Olympics would seriously jeopardize his chance of being ready for the start of Miami's championship defense.

"We're totally supportive of Dwyane's decision and hope that he has a full and speedy recovery. He has been an amazing member of USA Basketball," Krzyzewski said in a statement.

Wade told The AP last week that making sure he's ready for the rest of his career with the Heat would be his top priority, though the decision to pass on a chance to play in his third ? and what would have been final ? Olympics was extremely difficult nonetheless.

"The reason I wanted to play this time around was because of the guys, a lot of guys from that team and the camaraderie that we shared ? that was special. I'm going to miss that," Wade said. "And another reason why I wanted to play again is that my sons are a little older this time. They'd have an opportunity to be there, to share in the experience."

Wade's decision means that Miami will have no more than two players on the U.S. team in London. Finals MVP LeBron James is a lock for the team, and forward Chris Bosh said earlier this week that he's "all in ? for now" despite missing nine playoff games with a strained abdominal muscle. Bosh said he would confer with doctors before making a final commitment to the Olympic team.

USA Basketball won 26 of its last 27 games with Wade in the lineup and is 36-5 overall with him on teams. Three of those five losses came at the 2004 Athens Olympics, when the Americans left with the bronze medal. Wade won his first NBA championship two years later and averaged 16 points while coming off the bench for the "Redeem Team" that won gold in Beijing in 2008.

"D-Wade has a lot of equity with USA Basketball and has made great contributions to our program and we're sorry he won't be with us this summer, but we know he'll be with us in spirit," Colangelo said.

The gold medal game four years ago was perhaps Wade's best in a red, white and blue uniform: He scored a game-high 27 points on only 12 shots, as the Americans topped Spain 118-107 for the Olympic title.

"I'm happy that I can focus on my body a little bit," Wade said. "I'm not happy to get surgery, but I'm happy that I can focus on getting better."

Google releases Chrome for iPhone and iPad

Updated. Google unveiled its Chrome browser for iOS at its Google I/O developer conference in San Francisco Thursday, making the browser available on the iPhone and iPad. Brian Rakowski, Vice President, Chrome, said that the new browser will be available in iTunes later today.

The new browser brings cross-device syncing to iOS, making it possible for users of the Chrome desktop browser to access any of the tabs they have opened on their PC on their iOS mobile device as well. Chrome also synchronizes browser history, making it possible to use the back button to access previously opened sites.

Google?s Sundar Pichai said earlier during the keynote that mobile will be the biggest growth market for Chrome. Three billion people already access the web, he said, but half of the world?s population still have yet to come online. ?And those we reach via mobile,? he said, with Chrome being key to these effort. ?Chrome is the most popular browser in the world, globally,? he declared.

Emma Stone Attracted To Gwen Stacy's 'Spider-Man' Tragedy

'That is so shocking and horrifying and kind of beautiful in some way,' actress tells MTV News of her character's tragic end in the comics.

The news of Emma Stone's casting in "The Amazing Spider-Man" was first met with almost universal approval. She would be the perfect Mary Jane Watson, fans thought. But when her true role as Gwen Stacy became clear, there was almost a bittersweet understanding.

If Gwen is remembered for one thing, it is her death at the hands of the Green Goblin.

When MTV News' Josh Horowitz spoke with the actress, she told him that the tragic end for the character was what initially drew her into the project. "That was part of the reason why I was kind of drawn to the role, that mark on pop-culture history," she said. "I read all about Gwen, and I thought that was so amazing."

Even with Gwen's death as an iconic moment in comic book history, canon is constantly rewritten for film adaptations. Stone sought answers from the filmmakers as to whether the film version of Gwen would respect the book, and she was pleased with the response.

"I spoke to the people behind the movie, and they said, 'Yeah, we're planning on staying true to the comics.' And I was like, 'If you're making a movie like this, that's something I want to be a part of,' " Stone said. "That is so shocking and horrifying and kind of beautiful in some way. The fact that people unsubscribed and burned their copies — I like anything that causes some kind of upheaval."

Her director Marc Webb couldn't say whether Stone's version of Gwen would meet the same fate in an upcoming installment, but he couldn't deny the allure of working with that moment. "I think that remains to be seen, but let me tell you this: The ultimate tragedy of Gwen Stacy is a really provocative and powerful part of the Spider-Man canon," he said. "I think it would be really extraordinary to explore that, but I don't want to take the wind out of the drama."

The Android Market became Google Play to focus on how it pushes media, and now it's adding a few new options. On stage at Google I/O 2012 the company just announced it's adding support for the purchase of movies, as well as TV shows by episode or by season, and even magazines all available today. Space X successfully test-fires Merlin 1D engine, forgets to buy marshmallows

SpaceX has added another string to its now weighty bow by successfully test firing the Merlin 1D engine, which will propel future craft into the thermosphere. The 1D is the sequel to the Merlin engines used to convey the DragonX to the International Space Station, with an improved thrust-to-weight ratio that reportedly makes it the most efficient booster engine ever built. It's hoped that the gear will be ready to make the jump to full use in time for the sixth flight of the Falcon 9, currently pencilled in for 2013. If you're the sort who enjoys watching a big pile of fire being pushed into a concrete chamber, you're really gonna love the video after the break.

Dangle a slinky off the roof of a building until it is fully extended, then let go and notice something odd: The bottom will hover in mid-air long enough to make even the casual observer to go, ?huh?? Thankfully, scientists have taken it upon themselves to explain this strangeness.

And they?ve done it with the help of high-speed video so that we can watch the suspended, collapsing spring in super slow motion.

Until the bottom of the slinky gets the message, it just hangs there oblivious to the change happening form above. Hence, the hovering effect.?

Obama offers mixed verdict on immigration ruling

WASHINGTON (AP) ? Pressing his immigration agenda, President Barack Obama said he is pleased the Supreme Court struck down key parts of Arizona's immigration law Monday but voiced concern about what the high court left intact.

The court allowed a provision requiring police to check the immigration status of someone they stop for another reason and who they suspect is in the country illegally.

Said Obama: "No American should ever live under a cloud of suspicion just because of what they look like." He said police in Arizona should not enforce the provision in a way that undermines civil rights.

The court's decision comes days after the Obama administration issued a directive that protects from deportation hundreds of thousands of younger immigrants who came illegally to the United States as children. Obama on Monday used the court's decision to push for congressional action on a broader overhaul of immigration laws and to reaffirm his move to target deportations to criminals.

"I will work with anyone in Congress who's willing to make progress on comprehensive immigration reform that addresses our economic needs and security needs, and upholds our tradition as a nation of laws and a nation of immigrants," he said in a statement before leaving on a two-day campaign and fundraising trip.

The decision keeps the issue of immigration as a high profile issue and gives Obama yet another opening to boost his standing with Hispanic voters for whom immigration is an important issue. Obama won two-thirds of the Latino vote in 2008 and has a large lead over rival Mitt Romney among that voting bloc in recent polls.

Obama pledged in 2008 to push for passage of comprehensive changes in immigration laws, but the effort stalled in Congress and Obama turned his attention to addressing the economy and pressed ahead with passing an overhaul of health care laws, which consumed much of 2010.

Romney on Monday blamed Obama for lack of action on immigration. He also said states have the right to secure their borders, "particularly when the federal government has failed to meet its responsibilities."

White House spokesman Jay Carney said Monday that efforts to deal with immigration have been hindered by "a retreat" among Republicans who had once advocated changes. He noted that Romney had embraced the Arizona law as a model for the country during the Republican primaries ? a position, Carney said, "that hardly suggests a desire for comprehensive bipartisan immigration reform."

The Supreme Court on Monday struck down other provisions of Arizona's crackdown on illegal immigrants, including requiring all immigrants to carry registration papers with them.

"A patchwork of state laws is not a solution to our broken immigration system ? it's part of the problem," Obama said.

That echoed what Obama said in April 2010 when Arizona passed its law. "If we continue to fail to act at a federal level, we will continue to see misguided efforts opening up around the country," Obama warned at the time.
