Woman escapes apparent kidnapping attempt during carjacking ...

A woman in Broadmoor narrowly escaped being kidnapped by two men who stole her car at gunpoint on Monday night, police said.

According to police reports, the 26-year-old victim was pulling into her driveway in the 4300 block of Jena Street around 9:39 p.m. when two men suddenly approached her and put a gun to the back of her head.

The men demanded that the woman hand over her keys and cell phone before trying to take off with her inside of the car. Right before the gunmen drove away, the woman was able to escape the vehicle, police said.

No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing.

Shooting in Little Woods: A man was shot Monday night in Little Woods, police said.

The 20-year-old victim was standing near the 10200 block of Castlewood Drive around 6:38 p.m. when he heard a pop and realized that he had been shot.

Police said the man suffered a minor graze wound to his right buttock. No arrests have been made.

Armed robbery in Bayou St. John: A 40-year-old man was leaving his workplace in the 2800 block of St. Philip Street about 7:07 p.m. on Monday night when he was stopped by a man wielding a gun who demanded that he empty his pockets.

The victim complied and then took off running, leaving his car behind. Police said that the victim's car was found later on in good condition but that no arrests had been made yet.

7th Ward armed robbery, shooting: Police said that a gun went off during an armed robbery attempt in the 7th Ward on Monday night.

According to police reports, a 26-year-old man was attempting to buy some hats from a vendor near the corner of North Villere and Pauger streets shortly before 10:30 p.m. when he was approached by a gun-wielding man who demanded that he hand over his cash and belongings.

The victim denied the gunman and the two began to struggle, at which point the gun the suspect was carrying went off. Police said no one was hurt in the shooting.

Missing woman: Police are looking for a missing teenager who was last seen in the 10000 block of Curran Boulevard on Monday morning.

14-year-old Mya Foster was last seen by her mother around 7:30 a.m. when Foster boarded the bus to school in the morning. Her mother told police that her daughter never returned home that night and that she hasn't been heard from since.

Foster is described as having a think build, standing approximately 5-foot-8 inches tall and weighing around 130 pounds. Foster wears glasses and has medium-length straight, black hair. She was last seen wearing a green shirt, black sweater and khaki pants, police said.
