A Fitchburg-based nonprofit that serves the developmentally disabled will receive a $1-milion loan from MassDevelopment, which it will use to pay for final renovations to its Main Street offices.
The Arc of Opportunity in North Central Massachusetts has been renovating its facility in stages over the past four years. Previous renovations were funded through private gifts and a capital campaign, which raised more than $4 million
Though its history goes back some 60 years, the nonprofit's current incarnation happened in 1999 through a merger of three service entities into one, which changed its name to The Arc of Opportunity in 2010.
