Vibrant Seniors on Active Holidays and Humanitarian Trips Need ...

Gilbert, AZ (Vocus) August 10, 2010

Older people are traveling more than any other generation in U.S. history. They need travel insurance specific for their age, travel destination and level of activity. Good Neighbor Insurance has created new on-line links to help older travelers think through their travel options.

In June 2010 Good Neighbor Insurance created a short video highlighting various types of travel insurance for seniors traveling internationally. This video was shown several times on the Hallmark Channel and Hallmark Movie channel.

?One thing we learned,? says Doug Gulleson, Partner in Good Neighbor, ?Iis that seniors are more active than ever on their travels.? The cruise-line vacation though still popular is being supplemented by other choices.

Gulleson continues, Seniors we call them boomers ? are traveling to more exotic locations, and spending vacation time pursuing service projects such as teaching English and helping in relief efforts. They also want to donate their considerable skills and time to various humanitarian and business projects.

More seniors are relocating overseas for new job assignments and second career choices. They are enrolled in overseas universities pursuing second and third academic degrees.

Karen Bellas, licensed agent for Good Neighbor, finds that boomers traveling overseas are asking for sports insurance. Seniors are in good health, and travel globally to find great rock-climbing, white water rafting and hang-gliding. They need supplemental sports insurance on their travel insurance policies.

Bellas pointed to a boomer link on the Good Neighbor website that caters to older travelers. This includes a chart comparing rates and benefits of four travel insurance plans.

Medical evacuation, trip cancellation and trip interruption, and travel insurance that covers pre-existing conditions are the plans seniors are most interested in purchasing, Gulleson told us.

Bellas continued, We want seniors to have safe and enjoyable international travel. Our website educates them on how to do that. We include tips for safe travel and life abroad as well as medical advice.
